Following the social hour, the Saints will play on CHS Field, known as the Greenest Ballpark in America due to its use of renewable energy, water use and treatment, and responsible resource use. (Learn more about CHS Field here.) Registrants will need to arrange their own transportation to CHS Field (an opportunity to experience the light rail system!). Dinner and social hour will start at 5:00 pm and the game starts at 6:37 pm.

11:30AM-1:30PM: WEBBER PARK POOL IN MINNEAPOLIS
(Registration for this activity is closed)

Leader: Gabe Downey, PhD student in Sports Ecology, University of Kansas

Come see where fitness, recreation, and nature collide at Webber Park Pool in Minneapolis, home to the only public Natural Swimming Pool (NSP) in North America. Rather than chemical filtration, NSPs use native wetland and aquatic plants and microbes for water disinfection. NSPs function more like streams, lakes, and wetlands; research conducted in 2024 may demonstrate human health benefits associated with NSPs vs. regular pools. This trip will present NSPs conceptually and environmentally, the history of the project in the North Minneapolis community, and how NSPs may provide a pathway for greater equity in aquatics.

Cost: $20.00 for lunch
Transportation: We will arrange carpools.
