ABOUT THE UPPER MIDWEST ASSOCIATION FOR CAMPUS SUSTAINABILITY (UMACS)
The Upper Midwest Association for Campus Sustainability was established in 2005 to support higher education staff, faculty and students in the region to advance sustainability on their campuses and in the community. We believe that by building collaborative relationships and sharing ideas and resources, we can advance our work for a more sustainable and just society.
THE CONFERENCE
Our annual conference attracts campus sustainability professionals, faculty, staff, students and community partners from colleges and universities across the Upper Midwest. The event provides cutting edge research and data from regional colleges and universities on sustainability policy and practice and attendees participate in region-wide networking and collaboration centered around campus and community sustainability. The 2026 Conference will be hosted by the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University on September 25 and 26, 2026.
WHY SPONSOR?
  • Our conference is relatively small so you will be able to have individual conversations with an engaged and committed audience of campus sustainability leaders. UMACS members like the fact that we prioritize relationship-building opportunities in all of our programming.
  • Approximately 40% of participants at the conference are students, partnering with us helps them learn about your work early in their career. (We are always happy to advertise internships and entry level positions in our newsletter).
  • Partner with us and we can help showcase our shared dedication to sustainability at the conference and  through our digital communications.

EXPECTED CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE

  • Conference attendees will represent approximately 50 campuses from at least nine states. (Our 2025 Conference at Luther College had 247 attendees from 45 campuses, and the 2024 Conference had 306 attendees from 51 campuses).
  • We expect at least 300 participants.
  • UMACS Digital Communications reach people at 141 campuses and organizations in the region, and had a 52-83% open rate in 2025. You can learn more about the range of UMACS Members here.
