Midwest Dairy represents over 4000 dairy farms, which impact over 40 million consumers across a 10-state region, including Minnesota, Iowa, North and South Dalota, Illinois, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri. Midwest Dairy works on behalf of dairy farmers to inspire consumer confidence in dairy products and their production practices. Dairy farmers have long shared a deep commitment to taking care of their animals and everyone’s shared resources including air, land, and water. This commitment, and the actions taken by dairy farmers throughout the Midwest, play a vital role in providing sustainably produced foods, nourishing people, our planet, and communities.
At a time when affordable and sustainable nutrition has never been more important to our world, dairy works as a solution to food and nutrition security due to its unique and irreplaceable nutritional makeup. All eyes are on the environmental impact of agriculture, and this holds true for dairy.
Dairy farmers are committed to a cleaner future for all. Currently, the dairy industry is only responsible for 2% of national greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, but aren’t stopping there – dairy’s goal is to achieve GHG neutrality by 2050. From decreasing emissions to optimizing water usage to improving water quality by optimizing utilization of manure, the U.S dairy industry and its farmers are dedicated to conserving natural resources and becoming an environmental solution.
