The UW-Plattevile Green Campus Project has adopted a portion of the Platteville Community Arboretum. The group will be eradicating invasive species and restoring native prairie vegetation. Students will be working with local youth to educate them about erosion control, storm water management, and native plants.

Our new 16-credit certificate is designed for individuals who want more background in renewable energy concepts and theory, and may be of particular interest to engineering and science students.
PELLA, IA — Central College is pleased to announce the creation of a Center for Global Sustainability Education to be housed in the college’s new green education/psychology building scheduled to open in the fall.
In spring semester, 2008, the UW Oshkosh Faculty Senate included sustainability in a set of Essential Learning Outcomes for the university.
The University of Iowa has announced plans to offer a Certificate in Sustainability starting in the fall of 2009. The program will allow students to augment their majors and minors with a certificate that promotes an integrated understanding of human and environmental systems and the complex interactions between them. To meet the certificate's requirements, students must complete 24 semester hours of course work that includes three introductory core courses, four electives from a designated list, and one project course.
Junior Tara Greiman, Dayton, is a recipient of the 2009 Udall Scholarship, one of only two students awarded who attend a Minnesota college. Greiman is the second Morris campus student to receive the Udall and the first to focus on environmental studies.
For the past year, University of Minnesota students, staff, faculty and citizens of Morris have joined in a conversation about the book, Plan B 3.0, by Lester Brown. This book served as a great template for asking hard questions and thinking more deeply about sustainability solutions.
Faculty at Central College passed a Global Sustainability requirement as part of revisions to their core curriculum. The new core will be implemented in the fall of 2010 for all new incoming students.
